December 14th, 2023 was a big day in the life of the people of Dhangarwadi area of Dhamane S Bailur in Belagavi taluk, as they got electricity for the first time in the village.
Located around 31 kms away from the district quarters, there are 22 families in Dhangarwadi. They were demanding electricity for the past over five decades but in vain. On Thursday, thanks to the efforts of local MLA and women and child welfare minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, solar and wind (hybrid) power was provided to these families.
The project has been implemented by Bengaluru based Panchami Global Project Private Limited. The total cost of the project is Rs 55.3 lakh. After inaugurating the project, minister Hebbalkar said the project has been implemented under MLA fund.She assured of providing other amenities like roads and potable drinking water in the coming days.
Power minister K.J. George said a temporary electricity facility has been made. Shortly, the measures would be taken to provide permanent electricity supply, he assured. Gourav Gupta, additional secretary of power department, Hescom MD Moha and local leaders were present.

Srirampura, Ramabainagar, Jayanagar, Shivapura, Saraswathipuram, KG Koppal, and surrounding areas will also experience power disruption.
